A Guide On How To Restore Your Landscape

Posted on

Would you want to landscape your home? A well-designed landscape will enhance the appeal of your property and make it more attractive to potential customers. Read this article for some landscape improvement tips.

Start With An Inspection

Inspect your landscape to determine its current condition and evaluate the scope of works. Your inspection should assess the following:

Does the landscape need a stormwater drainage system? You need to redirect stormwater to the public drainage, not your neighbour's property.

Does the landscape require additional drainage? For instance, if it is flat, you may need to install land drainage coils.

What is the type of soil? Plants cannot grow on clay soil. As such, you may need to excavate it.

What is the slope of the landscape? It may be challenging to plant grass and trees on steep slopes.

Planning

Create a map of every feature you would want to include in the landscape. Preferably, you should conduct some internet research to know how other people have built their landscapes. Nonetheless, below are some vital tips:

Do not cram your landscape. Too many trees and bushes will make it look like a forest.

Strategically planted trees will block the sun's violent rays during the summer.

Leave adequate space for access roads and pavements.

With sufficient space, you could have a deck, patio, gazebo or swimming pool.

The bushes and trees should blend with the exterior of your home.

The plan will help you determine the scope of works. Preferably, you should hire a professional landscaper to help you implement the project. If you would want to attempt a DIY project, it would still be wise to consult the landscaper. He or she will advise you on suitable grasses, trees, and how to fix landscape installations. Create a budget of how much the works will cost. You could conduct the improvement works in phases or ask for a home improvement loan if you have inadequate funds.

Execution

Landscape projects start with groundworks. They may range from earthmoving to gardening works. The plants on your landscape should be suitable for your climate. For instance, you could plant Bermuda or Zoysia grass if you live in a warm region. Kentucky and Fescue are perfect for cold climates. If the area has a slope, plant fast-growing grass to prevent soil erosion. Use concrete, natural stone or tiles on your pavements. The material should have sufficient grip to prevent slips during wet weather. Asphalt and concrete are perfect for your driveway.

Your landscape restoration journey should be easy with the above tips. Inspect the landscape and observe the recommended planning and execution guidelines. Contact a landscaping contractor for more information.
